Animal Research and Shark Acrostic Poems

These last couple of weeks we have learned A LOT about different animals.  We have been researching our favorite animals and now we are working on publishing them through a website called Student Publishing.  I have done this the last three years and my students always love it and learn so much! Here is an example of our work.

Also, this week has been a review week for ELA so I went to Amy Lemons' blog and pulled some neato ideas for poetry.  We finished our Shark Acrostic Poems today and they turned out so cute! Thank you Mrs. Lemons for such a cute, fun way to review poetry.  Check them out on Amy Lemons' blog- Step Into 2nd Grade with Mrs. Lemons.  http://stepintosecondgrade.blogspot.com/  Here are our super cute sharks.

One other great idea from Amy Lemons.  Measurement Olympics! We are also reviewing in math this week and measurement is on the agenda.  When I found the Shark acrostics I also found Measurement Olympics. I immediately knew that I needed to do this too- so I created a recording sheet and added a twist.  After the Olympics, students will graph their results (another great review).  Hopefully you'll have fun with this too! Click HERE for the free recording sheet!

OOH by the way I am having a massive MATH sale on Teachers Pay Teachers from today (Wednesday) until Friday!  Go check it OUT! Have a great rest of the week friends!

  1. Hi there! I was excited to see you created a form for the measurement Olympics from Amy Lemons, but when I clicked your link, it took me to my google drive...not your document. Maybe I'm doing something wrong...but I would love to have a copy of your form!
