Easter Fun

This week we are reviewing graphs and since we have a short week for Easter I decided to go ahead and create some fun spring graphs! I have gone ahead and posted them on TPT and you can click here to get them.

On another hoppy note- We will be creating a bunny from toilet paper tubes.  I am so excited about this fun craft.  You can jump over to Pinterest to find the tutorial.  Have a great Easter week!

Roll for More - Place Value and Addition Skills

Everyday in my class we do math centers.  This way I can meet with my lower kids and help them grasp the math skill from that week a little better.  Well, earlier this week we took a little break and my low kids did centers too.  So I watched them work with other partners, and I was so impressed with this one particular center because these kiddos were not playing the game like were supposed to BUT it was actually a better rendition than the original rules.  They were not only practicing their place value skills (the whole center was supposed to focus on this) but they were also practicing their addition skills (they were rolling two dice and then building the sum of the two with their tens and ones manipulatives).  Since I loved this idea I decided I would post it for FREE! Hope everyone enjoys it as much as we did!

Blog-tastic!

Hello Bloggers!

I am starting this blog to share my favorite ideas that I have used in room 214.  My goal as a teacher is to reach every student through their unique learning style.  I LOVE creating hands-on activities that reach every student and assists in successful learning.  By the time they leave my classroom I hope that I have prepared them to continue their growth in knowledge for the next grade and for the rest of their life.   Jump on the Jiving with Mrs. Jaap bandwagon to explore learning through the life of a second grader!
